If you are planning on corporate or broadcast interviews I can give you some suggestions for the best locations to consider.  Often producers book a suite or meeting room in The French Quarter because it is such a popular destination.  Unfortunately, the Quarter is dense with delivery trucks and revelers which makes for lots of noise and can spoil your audio.  There are a few hotels on the edge of the French Quarter that have super quiet rooms with super access for crew, gear and interview subjects. The following list starts with the best and most expensive venues and gives you a rough guide for budgeting.

Ritz Carlton Hotel 921 Canal Street  504-542-1331

Ritz Carlton Suites

On the Canal Street side of the French Quarter these suites look nothing short of regal.  Rich colors and flexible layout for high end corporate interviews. $$$

Ritz Carlton Meeting Rooms

Over 20 different meeting rooms that can accommodate any type of interior shoot.  $$$

Marriott Hotel New Orleans 555 Canal Street 504-581-1000

Marriott Hotel Meeting Rooms

Easier access than most hotels there is a choice of 50 meeting rooms from small to cavernous.

Pull up breezeway valet access makes transportation easy for everyone. $$

Hilton New Orleans Riverside  2 Poydras Street  504-561-0500

Hilton Riverside Event Spaces

Again lots of room choices at the Hilton Riverside (not the Hilton on St Charles Avenue).

At the end of Canal Street on the Mississippi River they have so many choices you need to browse the event spaces link.  Great valet service and self parking too. I would avoid the rooms on the river unless you want a shot out a window.  Added bonus is that it is 2 blocks from the Morial Convention Center so offers easy access.  Incidentally, there are meeting rooms on the second floor of the Convention Center that are even closer, but require a backdrop.  The hotels on Convention Center Boulevard should be avoided because many of the meeting room face the street that has a parade of very loud tour buses that ferry people all day. $$

Sheraton Hotel Metairie 4 Galleria Boulevard  504-837-6707

Sheraton Hotel Metairie

Mid way between Louis Armstrong airport (MSY) and downtown there are two smaller meeting rooms that work for single subject interviews. Hotel is well staffed and a good place to put up interview subjects and out of town producers. $

Best Western Metairie  2601 Severn Avenue  504-888-9500

Best Western Metairie

Another midway location between MSY and the New Orleans CBD.  The bonus for this location is a Whole Foods Market is 2 blocks away- close enough to walk to. Not a lot of rooms, but might fit the bill for a one day single interview. $
